Google's leading online video service is increasing its display resolution from 720p to 1080p HD video.
“As the resolution of consumer cameras increases, we want to make sure YouTube is the best home on the web to showcase your content,” the company says. “For viewers with big monitors and a fast computer, try switching to 1080p to get the most from the full-screen experience.”
The company is also re-encoding videos already uploaded at 1080p to stream at that resolution.
